Tookitaki is seeking a Technical Lead to drive end-to-end engineering excellence across its AI-driven financial crime prevention platforms—FinCense and the Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) Ecosystem. As a hands-on technical leader, you will guide the development of highly scalable, modular backend systems and modern, intuitive frontend interfaces. This role requires a deep
understanding of microservices architecture, cloud-native development, and enterprise-grade UI engineering, alongside the ability to mentor engineers, shape product architecture, and ensure delivery quality.
This is a high-ownership position at the core of Tookitaki’s vision to build a trusted financial ecosystem, where you’ll lead engineering initiatives that directly prevent fraud and combat money laundering at scale.

Position Purpose
The Technical Lead will be responsible for designing, architecting, and delivering scalable technology solutions that support Tookitaki’s compliance and risk platforms. This role blends technical depth, architectural vision, and team leadership, ensuring that engineering solutions
are robust, secure, and aligned with the company's product roadmap. You will also drive cross-functional collaboration, setting the bar for code quality, system reliability, and team productivity.

Key Responsibilities


1. Architecture & System Design

  • Define and evolve the architecture of backend and frontend components across microservices, APIs, and UI layers.
  • Guide design decisions that ensure performance, fault-tolerance, and modularity across Tookitaki's compliance platforms.

2. Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Lead a team of backend and frontend engineers through project execution, code reviews, and sprint planning.
  • Mentor junior engineers, promote engineering best practices, and build a strong learning culture within the team.

3. Hands-on Development

  • Write and review high-quality, scalable, and test-driven code in Java/Scala/Python for backend and React/Angular for frontend.
  • Build cloud-native services, integrate with big data frameworks, and design enterprise-grade UI interfaces.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Managers, QA, DevOps, Data Scientists, and Client Success to align on technical requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Translate product features into engineering specifications, ensuring timely and successful releases.

5. Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure application performance, availability, and scalability through monitoring, debugging, and optimization.
  • Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, version control standards, and automated testing frameworks.

6.Security & Compliance Readiness

  • Implement secure coding practices, data protection measures, and platform hardening aligned with regulatory and SOC 2 requirements.
  • Support compliance audits and architectural reviews across all services and applications.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • 9+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
  • Proven experience in building and leading teams responsible for scalable backend and frontend systems in enterprise or SaaS environments.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python for backend; ReactJS and Angular for frontend.
  • Experience in microservices architecture, REST APIs, and event-driven systems (Kafka, Spark, Flink preferred).
  • Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including DevOps tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, system monitoring tools, and performance tuning.
